Football Preview: 4th Ranked Hornets Look For Senior Night Win Against North Bend

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Henley Hornets 7-1(4-1) are preparing for the final week of the regular season. Henley will host the North Bend Bulldogs 4-4(3-2) on senior night at Hill O’Brien Field.

The Hornets emerge after a week seven loss to the #1 Mazama Vikings 44-36. Even though the Hornets came up short, it was a positive performance against one of Oregon’s best teams. The Vikings were a physical team, but Henley didn’t get pushed around.

“I didn’t feel a huge mismatch in physicality,” said coach Alex Stork. “It was more about our discipline as the game went on, especially on defense. Offensively, I think we matched their physicality just fine.”

The Hornets’ offensive line created room for junior running back Logan Whitlock to rush for 96 yards with two touchdowns and senior quarterback Shaw Stork added 85 yards and a score.

“It feels like one moment there is a guy in the hole and the next moment he is getting cleared out by one of the linemen,” said Whitlock. “It’s really great to run behind them because there is always gonna be running lanes, I just have to find them.”

The Hornets’ offensive line is littered with seniors who will be playing their final regular season game at Henley High School. Juan Manzo, Nate Tappan, Mathew McCoy, and Owen Northcutt are all graduating in 2022 and in the final stretch of their high school football careers.

“I think it’s all about trust,” said junior lineman and team captain Braeden Morris. “We all played together last year and we just know that if someone doesn’t need help we can go up and block a linebacker and it’s all a case of trust.”

As the Hornets enter the final regular season game, they will rely on the offensive line to lead them to victory, and potentially a high playoff seed. You can watch the Hornets battle the Bulldogs by watching for free on mybasin.com.
