KCC Invites Community Members to Commemorate Their Support

KLAMATH FALLS – Community members are invited to commemorate their support for Klamath Community College’s new workforce development center by purchasing a 4-by-8-inch brick that can be inscribed with a custom message.
The bricks will be placed outside the college’s new Work Skills Technology Center (WSTC), which is slated to open next month. The center is part of a $15.7 million project creating two new campus spaces: the WSTC and Founders Hall. Bricks are available throughout August for $125.
Purchased bricks and other donations are part of a “Completing the Transformation” capital campaign to raise $650,000 to purchase technology and equipment for the WSTC. The campaign ends Aug. 31.
“This is a great opportunity to support the campaign and college and to recognize yourself, your family, or a friend by naming a brick that will be located in a landscaped area outside of the WSTC,” said Julie Murray-Jensen, KCC vice president of enrollment and external affairs.
Murray-Jensen believes the campaign will exceed its goal and plans to announce the total at the end of August.
“We are excited to share the news with the community because this is their college,” she said.
The WSTC will serve the Klamath Basin’s most vulnerable populations – GED students, alternative high school students, and dislocated workers – and is dedicated to providing career-technical training, certificate programs, and community education opportunities.
Two families/groups can be acknowledged on the bricks and other college naming opportunities, such as offices and classrooms, unless an exception for additional names is made by the KCC Board of Education, Murray-Jensen said.
All WSTC campaign donations, of any value, pledged by Aug. 31 will be listed in a donor book located in the WSTC.
Community members who do not want to purchase a brick, but would like to contribute to the campaign, are encouraged to do so, Murray-Jensen said. Donations of $500 or more will be recognized on a donor wall display in the center.
