The Air Quality outlook for Wednesday August 9, 2017, from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm Wednesday August 9, 2017 is expected to be in the Moderate to High Moderate range. The Weather Service is forecasting NNE and SE winds during the day, which may give us a break from the smoke until 6:00 pm this afternoon when the winds switch and will come from the NW. The NW winds will bring smoke into our area from local fires that may cause the air quality to deteriorate into the “Unhealthy” range for the Klamath Basin. The Air Quality outlook for Chiloquin and Fort Klamath for today Wednesday August 9, 2017 from 8:00 am to 8:00 am tomorrow Thursday August 10, 2017 is expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive groups to Unhealthy for all range. Unhealthy Air Quality means everyone can be affected. Sensitive groups should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Consider moving activities indoors or rescheduling. Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion. Take more breaks during all outdoor activities.
Weather conditions and smoke levels can vary dramatically during wildfires, not only from one day to the next but on an hourly basis. Smoke may also impact one portion of a community but not another.
