Excessive Heat Warning Through Friday Night

 

Another hot and smoky day. We have an Excessive Heat Warning until Friday Night with Klamath Falls likely hitting 100 today and maybe tomorrow too. And Klamath County Public Health says the heat combined with smoke from area fires could keep Chiloquin and Fort Klamath in moderate to unhealthy air quality levels all week. 

Here’s the official word from the National Weather Service:

.. EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT FRIDAY… … HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT FRIDAY… * TEMPERATURES: DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 90 TO 108 DEGREES, WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS OF 65 TO 75 DEGREES.

LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING AREA INCLUDE: MOST OF THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES AND SISKIYOUS BELOW AN ELEVATION OF 6000 FEET, INCLUDING UNION CREEK, HOWARD PRAIRIE, AND SISKIYOU SUMMIT. MODOC COUNTY EXCLUDING THE WARNER MOUNTAINS. EASTERN SISKIYOU COUNTY INCLUDING MOUNT SHASTA AND MEDICINE LAKE AREA.

LOCATIONS IN THE ADVISORY AREA INCLUDE: DIAMOND LAKE AND THE EASTERN SLOPES OF THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES… THE KLAMATH AND TULELAKE BASINS… AND MODOC PLATEAU. *

IMPACTS: VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES WITH LIMITED RELIEF OVERNIGHT WILL INCREASE CHANCES FOR HEAT RELATED ILLNESS, ESPECIALLY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS AND PEOPLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO AIR CONDITIONING. HEAT STRESS IS POSSIBLE FOR LIVESTOCK AND OUTDOOR PETS.
