Governor Kate Brown was in Southern Oregon over the weekend where she toured the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument with Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. Brown also met with Representative Greg Walden and local leaders to discuss the monument’s controversial expansion. It’s one of more than 2-dozen monuments created or expanded over the past twenty years that the Trump administration is reviewing. The monument, was originally about 53-thousand acres when it was established in 2000, but grew to about 100-thousand acres last year under the Obama Administration. Zinke could decide whether to keep the entire monument in tact or scale it back by the end of August.
