Smoke from Oregon, California Fires Drift into Basin

Klamath Falls, Ore.– Where’s all the smoke coming from? There aren’t any active fires burning in the immediate area… the nearest is the 790 fire in the Fremont-Winema National Forest— it’s a relatively small blaze and holding steady at about 2-thousand acres. The more likely culprits are the July and Happy Camp complexes in Siskiyou County— they’re farther away, but very large fires that are still growing. New  evacuation advisories were issued last night for the Happy Camp complex which is 32-thousand acres and only 20-percent contained. The July Complex has been burning for more than a month now. The Whites fire in that complex is 33,600 acres and 80-percent contained.
