Operation “Rap it Up” Nets 26 Arrests

Klamath Falls, Ore.– The shooting death of 5-year old Alysa Bobbitt in Grants Pass more than a year ago led to an investigation that resulted in the arrest of 26 people, as several law enforcement agencies in Southern Oregon combined forces to uncover an illegal gun purchasing ring that put firearms in the hands of convicted felons. It’s called a straw purchase, where one person purchases a gun legally, then sells or gives it to someone who can’t legally own a firearm. Along with the confiscation of illegally-owned weapons in Josephine, Jackson, and Klamath Counties, law enforcement officials say they uncovered two murder plots, busted prostitutes, and took plenty of illegal drugs off the streets.
