Klamath Falls, Ore.– The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries has ordered the owner and an employee of a Klamath Falls mite ranch to pay retribution to two former employees for abusive treatment. According to a judgment from OBLI, the agency held two separate hearings last fall to determine whether two Latino employees were subjected to racial discrimination and threats of physical violence while working at Biocontrol, based out of California. Owner Howard Maltby was ordered to pay $50-thousand dollars, while employee James Bassett has to be 150-thousand. They can appeal the ruling.
