Agreement Reached on Upper Klamath Basin Water

For more than 8 months, several lawmakers and organizations have been working to resolve issues with water and resource management in the Upper Klamath Basin. Senator Jeff Merkley was among those working on what is now being called an historic agreement between the Klamath Tribes, and US Department of the Interior and irrigators in the Basin. According to a press release sent out today, the new agreement creates an economic development program for the Klamath Tribes, and adds at 30-thousand acre feet annually to inflows into Upper Klamath Lake, among other benchmarks.
