Prineville, Ore. – Congratulations to Kayden Kappas, James Moore, and Tanner Higgins on winning their division of the Southeast Regional Elks Hoops Shoot competition held in Prineville, Oregon on January 18, 2014. Kayden and James won the female and male 10-11 year old division. Kayden is currently a 6th grader at Peterson Elementary and James is a 6th grader at Triad School. Tanner, who is currently an 8th grader at Henley Middle School, won the 12-13 female division.
All three Klamath Falls kids will be representing the entire Southeast Region at the 2014 Oregon Elks Hoop Shoot State Championship held this Saturday, February 7, 2014 in Salem. They will face off against the top free throw shooters from six other regions in the state. If any one of them is fortunate to win the State Championship this weekend they qualify for the Western Regionals to compete against state champions from Idaho, Washington, and Alaska in March. A victory at Western Regionals sends them back to for an all-expense paid trip to Springfield, Massachusetts to the James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for the National Championship in April.
