County Seeks to Pursue Public Power

Klamath Falls, Ore.– The Klamath County City Council last week decided to table the issue of taking over services for Pacific Power after getting an earful from Basin residents. The County, however, still thinks it’s a good idea to ditch the power company and get into the energy business. At last night’s Commissioner’s meeting, the Klamath County Energy Advisory Council asked for $5,000 to continue studying the idea. The study will include trying to negotiate with Pacific Power to lower electricity rates for customers in the county. The Board of Commissions will discuss the request at a workshop session at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5th.
