MT. SHASTA, Ca. — The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue saved three hikers that were stranded on Mount Shasta New Year’s Day.

The rescue team were called around 9 a.m. by the climbers who they were 1,000 feet above Lake Helen and needed help.

Two 20 year old unidentified women, and a 20 year old unidentified man all sustained serious to minor injuries, and were airlifted off of the mountain.

Current lack of snowfall and cold conditions, as well as loose debris and rocks make climbing conditions on Mt. Shasta extra hazardous.
