KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — ODOT has a reminder for drivers now that most of the roads in the basin are experiencing ice and snow.
Drivers need to pay attention to weather and road forecasts and plan transportation alternatives until conditions improve.
If you have to drive on snowy or icy roads, use chains, winter traction tires, or studded tires.
Drive slower for the conditions, and be prepared for slow traffic.
Leave more than enough stopping distance, and make sure
you have additional space between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
And make sure your vehicle is stocked with a flashlight, cell phone and a charger, extra food and water, as well as blankets, extra warm clothes, boots, hat and gloves. And don’t forget an ice scraper and a snow brush.
