Crater Lake feeling the effects from the federal budget

CRATER LAKE, Ore. — Crater lake is feeling the effects from the federal budget.

The park’s budget will drop next year because of a federal pay raise of 1 percent and because of the sequestration.

The lack of funds likely means that Lost Creek Campground won’t reopen, the park isn’t going to be able to hire any seasonal employees, and non-essential snowplowing will stop.

The park is facing around half a million dollars in cuts.
