People entering national parks in spite of closures

Crater Lake

CRATER LAKE, Ore. — National Parks across the country remain closed due to the government shutdown, but that isn’t stopping people from ignoring the closed gates and
signs, and going in anyway.

Crater Lake National Park is one of the parks that is seeing some of that activity even though the closure is being strictly enforced.

Crater Lake’s Chief Ranger says about a half dozen people a day are found trespassing in the park, and rangers are escorting them out.
