Tulelake Butte Valley Fair Kicks Off Today

TULELAKE, Cal – The 62nd annual Tulelake Butte Valley Fair kicks off today. This year’s theme is “God Made A Farmer”. Since losing funding from the State of California three years ago, the Tulelake Butte Valley Fair has implemented a “pay what you can” admission policy. State of Jefferson Moves Forward

YREKA, Cal – Siskiyou County supervisors are moving ahead with plans for a State of Jefferson in southern Oregon and northernmost California. The lawmakers voted 4-1 to begin the process of seceding from California. Yogurt Recall

WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration said it is looking into Chobani’s recall of yogurt contaminated by mold. A spokesperson said the agency just found out about the problem two days ago. Chobani voluntarily pulled its yogurt Friday, and asked stores to remove containers with expiration dates from Sept. 9 to Oct. 7 and a code of 16-012. The recall comes after hundreds of complaints about hissing and bloated containers.

Kitzhaber Calls for a Special Session

SALEM, Ore. – Gov. John Kitzhaber has set a date of Sept. 30 for a special session of the Legislature, that is if he can get enough votes for pension cuts, tax increase and small-business tax cuts. He’s been trying for months to find a way to raise new tax revenue for school funding and mental health treatment and lower costs of public-employee pensions at the same time.

MEDFORD, Ore. – Jackson County sheriff’s detectives need your help to find a White City man who has been missing for several months. 25 year old Christopher Jon Evans was last seen on his birthday, May 29. Wildfire Contained

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore – The Douglas Complex of wildfires in Southwestern Oregon is fully contained, but smoke will still be seen in the area until fall rain comes and puts out the remains of the fire. The Douglas Complex, one of several large fires this summer, was started by a lightning strike on July 26. Fire officials Tuesday night declared it 100 percent contained on Tuesday night. Murder suspect caught

MEDFORD, Ore – Medford police say they have caught a murder suspect they believe hid in bushes and then fatally stabbed a Medford woman. 45-year-old Jose Valencia-Gaona of Medford was arrested shortly before noon yesterday. He’s being held for the murder of 38-year-old Maria Guadelupe Rodriguez. She was stabbed to death outside her apartment on Sunday. Authorities say that the victim and the suspect knew each other, possibly from a previous relationship

Virginia’s defense and special teams got high marks in the Cavaliers’ season-opening victory against BYU. Quarterback David Watford and the new offense got by on the bare minimum.
