Two drivers killed in head on collision near Chemult



CHEMULT, Ore. — Both drivers were killed when their vehicles collided on Highway 97 near Chemult, Ore on Friday.

A pickup driven by 44-year-old Kenneth Frazier of Gilchrist attempted to pass a commercial vehicle in a no-passing zone when he collided with an oncoming van driven by 73-year-old Earl Johnson of Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Both men died at the scene, and Johnson’s passenger, 71-year-old Joanne Johnson, suffered critical injuries and was taken by air to a Bend hospital.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
