KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Forestry is preparing for more wildfires caused by lightning storms.

Crews are staffing lookout towers and extra helicopters are on standby watching for fire outbreaks.

The national preparedness level increased to a five on Tuesday, which is the highest level.

That means there are multiple geographic areas experiencing large wildfires and using a large amount of fire resources.
