KLAMATH COUNTY — A total of 42 new fire starts have been discovered across the Klamath National Forest, all lightning-induced, since last Wednesday, August 7th.
Officials say there have been more than 1,400 strikes in total. Each of the fires is currently staffed, if not contained.
Of the fires, there are four not contained on the Happy Camp/Oak Knoll Ranger District and one on the Scott-Salmon River Ranger District.
Four fires on the Goosenest Ranger District are all contained.
The largest of the fires is estimated to be one acre in size for a total of just over 15 acres for all of the fires in combination.
