PORTLAND, Ore. — Japan is going to start buying western white wheat from the Pacific Northwest again.

This is great news for Oregon, Washington and Idaho wheat farmers who faced an uncertain future after the discovery of GMO wheat plants almost shut down their biggest commodity.

Officials say Japan recently ordered 90,000 tons of western white wheat, and the order is being readied now to ship out.
