Ticks in abundance this year

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Ticks are out, and the amount of the nasty bugs is higher than usual this year.

Ticks like grass that is 18 inches high or less, and they feed off the blood of birds and animals, like deer, but will bite people too.

Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever can be transmitted by tick, so it’s important to be vigilant when outdoors to make sure you don’t get ticks on you or your pets.

Ticks aren’t as active when it’s extremely dry, but they can still be fond near rivers and creeks.
