Japan may resume buying wheat from the Northwest

Japanese agricultural officials are meeting with industry groups this week before heading to Washington, D.C. to discuss the future of Japanese wheat buying in the Northwest.

This is the latest since GMO wheat was found in an Oregon field. U.S. wheat growers are hopeful that the biggest importer of Pacific Northwest wheat will resume purchases two months after genetically-modified wheat was found.

So far, further tests by the USDA have turned up no more evidence of transgenic wheat.
