Group gives $250,000 for gay marriage initiative here in Oregon

Freedom to Marry

SALEM, Ore. — A national group that is working to legalize gay marriages in all states just gave a $250,000 to the fight here in Oregon.

Freedom to Marry started in 2003 working to legalize gay marriage across the country, and gave the campaign here money to put a same-sex marriage initiative on the 2014 ballot.

The money is the first large contribution to either side of the issue in Oregon so far. The group is also working towards the same goals in Hawaii, Illinois and New Jersey.
