Gems player earns WCL Player of the Week award



PORTLAND, Ore. — The Klamath Falls Gems are in second place in the West Coast League’s South Division, heading into a series tonight with first place Bend (6 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend).

On Monday, Gems outfielder Nick Fisher was chosen WCL Player of the Week, batting .500 with three home runs during the week. For the season, he is hitting .339. He is the second Gems player chosen player of the week this year, joining Dempsey Grover.

This past spring, Fisher led Linfield College to an NCAA Division III baseball national championship. The junior from Lake Oswego hit .374 with six home runs and 47 RBI. He earned first-team All-Northwest Conference honors and was named a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American.
