Car thefts on the rise in Oregon

SALEM, Ore. — Look out some one wants to steal your car! 10,340 cars were stolen in Oregon last year, an 11.5 % increase from 2011.

The most stolen cars were in Salem, where 1,177 vehicles were snagged, up 60 percent from the year before.

Portland drivers reported 7,485 car thefts, up 11.5 percent from 2011. That equals a car theft 28 times a day, or more than one an hour.
