SALEM, Ore. — Medical marijuana dispensaries are on their way to becoming legal in Oregon. The House voted 31-27 yesterday to legalize and regulate dispensaries.
The bill now goes next to the Senate. Under the law now, the state’s almost 55,000 medical marijuana cardholders must grow the pot themselves or have a person grow it for them.
There are about 200 medical marijuana retail outlets in Oregon now, but they’re unregulated. The bill being proposed would make the dispensaries register with the state medical marijuana program and also meet certain quality standards.
