Gems take doubleheader from Kelowna to win series



KELOWNA, British Columbia – The Klamath Falls Gems swept a doubleheader from Kelowna on Thursday night at Elks Stadium. After winning the first game 4-1, the Gems won the nightcap 4-3.

Brandon Horth (3-0) gave up only one run in the first game, earning his third straight win. Bret Hartnett picked up his first season save in relief for the Gems.

In the series finale, Nick Sabo (2-0) won the game on the mound with a one hit performance. Nick Fisher blasted four hits in the doubleheader, as the Gems pounded 18 hits in the two wins.

The Gems improved to 8-4 on the season, while Kelowna fell to 2-10. Klamath Falls moves on to Corvallis on Friday night to close the nine-game road trip (6 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend).
