Oregon National Guard may be deployed to Afghanistan

BOISE, Id. — The Oregon Army National Guard’s 41 Infantry Brigade Combat Team is training at the Orchard Combat Training Center, near Boise, to prepare for a possible deployment to Afghanistan in 2014.

The 41 IBCT unit got a notification last year of a potential deployment, however that mission could be cancelled, reduced or otherwise changed leading up to mid-2014.

National Guard units can expect to be called to deploy every five years, as necessary, as part of the regular rotational cycle of U.S. Forces.
