Weyerhaeuser acquiring acreage in Oregon and Washington

FEDERAL WAY, Wa. — One of the largest timber companies in the U.S. is getting ready to take over operations of Longview Timber based in Oregon and Washington.

Weyerhaeuser is buying the company for $2.65 billion which will also give the an additional 645,000 acres in timberland holdings.

The timberland deal is expected to close in July, would be the third-largest forestry acquisition in North American history.
