Vets get in-state tuition in Oregon

SALEM, Ore. — The state Legislature has voted to allow veterans nationwide to pay in-state tuition at Oregon’s public universities.

The House unanimously voted for the measure yesterday. It’s now on it’s way to Gov. Kitzhaber, who’s expected to sign it.

Lawmakers say the measure is a token of gratitude for people who have served the country.

Oregon already gives a discount on nonresident tuition for veterans, but the Post 9/11 GI Bill only covers the cost of in-state tuition.
