Gems take series from Bellingham

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Gems starter Nick Sabo earned a victory in his first start, allowing five hits, two earned runs and striking out seven, as the Gems made it two straight wins with a 7-2 victory over Bellingham on Monday at Kiger Stadium.

Bells starter John Albert retired eleven of the first 13 Gems batters, but the Gems offense came alive in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring two runs in both. Three more runs in the eighth sealed the win for Klamath Falls, which scored all their runs on only six hits. Albert took the loss for Bellingham (0-1). Dempsey Grover had two RBI to pace the Gems offense.

The Gems play next on Wednesday, hosting the Walla Walla Sweets at 6:35 p.m. (6 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend).
