KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – It’s been an award-filled week for athletes from Bonanza and Mazama High Schools.
After being named the Mike Keck Award winners, Bonanza’s Ryan Stewart and Mazama’s Hannah Reynolds (pictured left) both won scholarships from the Klamath County Sports Officials.
Reynolds was picked by the scholarship committee as the girls winner, receiving $400. Bailey Hammerich of Bonanza and Emma Thompson of Hosanna Christian were second and third, respectively.
Stewart (pictured right) earned second place behind his schoolmate Sean Angel. Mazama’s Jimmy Marquit was third.
“We are very proud of this year’s scholarship recipients,” said committee chair Joel Woodley. “We’ve known many of them for years through their participation in athletics, and it’s an honor to be able to help them extend their education with these awards.”
The scholarships are funded by donations from members of six local officiating associations representing various sports.
