GMO wheat found in eastern Oregon

WASHINGTON– A strain of genetically engineered wheat that was  not approved by the FDA has been found in an eastern Oregon field.

The wheat is a strain Monsanto was experimenting with years ago, but GMO wheat was never approved as a food product.

The discovery of the GMO wheat is bad for the wheat industry in the U.S. because most other countries, like China and Italy, don’t allow GMO products in their countries.

And the U.S ships almost half of the wheat grown here overseas. How the wheat turned up in the field is now under federal investigation.
