Klamath County Sheriff’s Department spared from budget axe

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Klamath County sheriff’s department was saved from the budget axe at today’s Klamath County Commissioners meeting.

At first the department was looking at almost a million and half in cuts, but Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah defended the departments’ needs, and more importantly, the needs of the people.

The room was packed with people tired of the crime here in the basin, and after they and the sheriff spoke, the council decided to find the funds somewhere.

After some number crunching, the council ended up designating $700,000 out of the general fund, and added another $700,000 to the million they were already getting from roads funds to pay for the sheriff’s budget.
