Some Klamath County residents paying more than others for fire protection

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — People on the outskirts of Klamath Falls may have been paying a lot more than they should have for fire protection.

Officials are looking into whether the classification of an area on Hogsback Mountain needs to be changed from forest land to something else, as residents there are now paying $67 more a year than the rest of Klamath County due to this label.

The Oregon Dept.of Forestry is looking into the matter further, and moving the boundry line away from the residents is being discussed. The Oregon Department of Forestry is also looking at other Oregon counties in their review.
