SALEM, Ore. — A bill was passed yesterday that makes some Pacific Islanders exempt from renewing their licenses every year.

The people of Micronesia,  the Marshall Islands and Palau have an agreement with the United States that allows their citizens of those nations to live in the US for an unlimited time.

With this bill, Oregon residents from the three nations will be granted standard eight-year driver’s licenses. The bill is on it’s way to the governor.
