Man killed on Hwy 101 was trying to dribble a soccer ball to South America

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man attempting to dribble a soccer ball from Seattle to Brazil was killed yesterday walking on Hwy 101.

42-year-old Richard Swanson started his 10,000 mile journey on May 1, and posted a video to Facebook just an hour before he was killed.

Swanson planned on walking for more than a year, and through 11 countries before ending up in Sao Paolo, Brazil, where the opener of the World Cup soccer tournament is scheduled to be played in June of 2014.
