HS Sports: Wortman claims state golf championship

CRESWELL, Ore. — Mazama’s Bryce Wortman posted a second-straight 79 to finish as a 4A Boys Golf State Championship co-champion with Sutherlin’s Tyler Franke. Franke shot two shots better in Tuesday’s final round at Emerald Valley Golf Club.

Henley’s Robert Ferguson finished tied for 21st, following his day one 90 with an 87 on Tuesday.

OSAA 4A-1A Girls Golf State Championships

Henley’s Kaitlin Collom shot a 73 and finished one stroke behind champion Monica Vaughn of Reedsport after Tuesday’s OSAA 4A-1A final round. Collom was trying to repeat after winning the state title last year.

Hannah Reynolds of Mazama was third; Kylie Collom fourth.

Softball

The Tulelake Honkers softball team was defeated 13-12 by Fall River in the NSCIF Division VI playoffs. In the game, the Honkers had a 12-1 lead after a eight-run fifth inning.

In the 2A league playoffs, Lost River lost to Gold Beach 10-3. The Raiders finish the season 12-12.

Baseball

In a non-league game, Klamath Union lost to Ashland 6-0. The Pelicans play Madras in the OSAA play-in round Friday at 3:30 p.m. (960 the Sports Legend).

Illinois Valley beat Lakeview 7-2.
