SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon House narrowly passed a bill on yesterday requiring overtime pay, meal breaks and other labor protections for housekeepers, nannies and in-home cooks.

The legislation is needed, according to proponents of the bill, to protect the largely female, immigrant workforce from labor violations. The House voted 32-28 which sent the bill to the state Senate.
