Governor announces this week is Arson Awareness Week

SALEM, Ore. — Gov. John Kitzhaber has called this week Arson Awareness to bring to light the high rate of arson fires in our state. There are reportedly over 16,000 fire that people set intentionally every year across the country. In Oregon, officers responded to almost 200 arson fire last year and 20 people were arrested for the crime.

In the Rogue Valley, investigations into a number of recent fires determined to be arson are ongoing. If you have any information regarding any of the fires, you are asked to call Medford police at (541) 774-2300.
