Umpqua tribe buys ranch next to site of Rogue Indian Wars

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A Southern Oregon Native American tribe is buying a ranch near Medford that is next to the site of the Rogue Indian Wars that broke out in 1850s. The Umpqua Tribe’s plans with the property is to help diversify economic development in other avenues than casinos, like the one they have in Canyonville. The Rogue River Ranch covers 1,700 acres on the north side of the Rogue River between Upper and Lower Table Rocks.
