Suicide rates nearly double in Oregon compared to the rest of the nation

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — New research is showing that suicide is on the rise in the US, but that trend is increasing here in Oregon faster than the rest of the nation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported shows Oregon saw a 49.3 percent increase in suicides among men and women aged 35-64 from 1999-2010, compared to 28 percent nationally. And rural counties have higher rates of suicide than urban ones.
