Town of Jefferson plans to kill wild turkeys to thin flock

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The city of Jefferson is bringing in a hunter to shoot three male turkeys this week as part of an effort to reduce the turkey population.

There are about 60 wild turkeys living within city limits, and the town needs to thin them out. The birds tend to disperse when older males are removed from the flock.

Once the turkeys move on to turkey heaven, they will be given to lower-income families in the area for them to eat.
