While the OSAA baseball world resumes on Saturday, Tulelake gets back on the diamond this afternoon hosting Westwood for a Northern California doubleheader.

Tulelake head coach Dan Lindsay says Westwood will come in short of players, so the game will result in a forfeit and Tulelake’s first wins of the year. Still, in Lindsay’s first year as coach, he says the team needs to work on improving despite the predictable outcome.

On Saturday, Henley hosts Hidden Valley in a rematch of one of last season’s state semifinals. Hidden Valley beat Mazama on Tuesday 19-3 in the Skyline Conference opener for both, while Henley lost to Klamath Union 11-2. Other Saturday games see Mazama at North Valley and KU hosting Phoenix (Bi-Mart Game of the Week – Noon – 960 the Sports Legend).

Lakeview (6-4) is off a split with Modoc and opens conference play at Rogue River, which has won four of its last five games.

Bonanza sits one game under .500 with a pair of games at Prospect Saturday. Lost River looks for its first win at Myrtle Point.

Tulelake will play on back-to-back days, traveling to Greenville on Saturday.

The match-ups are the same in softball. Henley plays its first league game against Hidden Valley, while Mazama goes for a 7th straight win at North Valley.

Lakeview is 3-8 on the year and play at the 3A Southern Cascade League’s best scoring team, Rogue River. Bonanza and Lost River are both 4-0 in conference play.
