KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech Owls baseball team used a Ryan Hayden walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th to beat Willamette University 6-5 at Kiger Stadium on Tuesday. Willamette won game 2 by a final of 13-8.
Tyson Dahl had two RBI for the Owls in the opening game as OIT registered five doubles as a team. Alex Reynolds batted 4-for-6 in the second game, in which OIT had 15 total hits.
Two Owls Named Players Of The Week
The game followed OIT’s Dylan Rogers earning the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award. He went 10-for-15 during last weekend’s games including three doubles. He’s batting .446 this season.
OIT’s Kassi Conditt was chosen CCC Field Athlete of the Week for throwing a meet record 13.63 meters in the shot put at last weekend’s Chico State Wildcat Invitational.
Former Mazama High athlete Mikayla Garrard was the Track Athlete of the Week by winning the 400-meter race at the same event. Garrard runs for Southern Oregon.
Freshman Alyssa Davis hit a grand slam as one of Oregon Tech softball’s four home runs in the fourth inning, a school record, as OIT defeated Southern Oregon 12-1. The victory followed SOU’s 7-4 win in the opener.
McKenzie Shrum, Sara Coates, Melissa Logan and Ashley Sfetku also homered in the game.
OIT is now 10-4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings, tied with Concordia. Corban leads the league at 13-1 and SOU is 8-4.
