PORTLAND, Ore. – A Klamath Falls woman and her son have been fined $2,500 by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. The penalty was issued for burning illegal materials such as wet garbage, plastic and aerosol cans.

Frank Dodd, the landowner’s son, was burning more than two cubic yards of material when Klamath County Fire officials responded to Dora Dodd’s home.

According to Oregon DEQ, it was fourth time officials visited the home, explaining each time about the state’s open burning laws.

The Dodds have until April 11 to appeal.
