Hwy 58 crash involves Klamath Falls woman

SALEM, Ore. – A multi-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon in the Salt Creek Tunnel on Highway 58 left six people injured and involved a Klamath Falls woman.

According to the Oregon State Police preliminary investigation, a SUV driven by 41-year-old Tanya Dawes of Klamath Falls lost control on the icy roadway inside the tunnel and hit the wall before colliding with a station wagon driven by 21-year-old Neil Hubler-Dayton of Eugene.

A third vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jesse Benson of Lebanon, spun out trying to avoid the accident and collided with a commercial truck.

Benson was transported to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries, while his wife and three children were transported by ambulance with minor injuries. The commercial truck’s driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The report did not mention injuries to either Dawes or Hubler-Dayton.

The highway was blocked for two hours.
