KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Klamath County Commissioners officially withdrew from the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement and the Klamath Hydroelectric Settlement Agreement during their weekly meeting on Tuesday.

The board had taken public comments on the topic in prior meetings before making the decision to withdraw.

Earlier, the county commissioners expressed reservations about the impacts of the agreement on the county’s economy and water storage. The agreement is a companion to a historic deal to remove four dams from the Klamath River in Oregon and Northern California to help restore salmon.
