CORVALLIS, Ore. — A dominating performance by the No. 1-ranked Mazama Vikings highlighted the opening day of the OSAA 4A Girls Basketball State Championships in Corvallis. Mazama built an 18-point halftime lead into a 76-37 win over Brookings-Harbor in the quarterfinals.
The win was impressive by itself, but became even more so after the other three quarterfinal games were decided by a combined five points. Mazama moves on to Thursday afternoon’s semifinals against Cascade, which defeated La Salle 43-42.
The Vikings were led by junior Caileigh Smith, who scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds, helping Mazama to a quick start.
