MEDFORD, Ore. — After leaving from the Jackson County Transition Center in January, a man has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a Medford business.

Police say 30-year-old Daniel Ballard was arrested Tuesday after he initially fled from officers on a bicycle.

Ballard and another man, 23-year-old Joshua Massey, are accused of stealing $11,000 worth of items from La Placita after entering the business through a piece of plywood where an air conditioning unit one sat. Video surveillance showed the suspects stealing laptops, cell phones and other items.

The men are charged with aggravated theft and burglary. Ballard has been jailed on outstanding warrants for escape, forgery, meth possession and other crimes.
